Installing a sump pump may be a good idea if your have concerns about flooding, for example:
- If you have a basement or cellar
- If groundwater is an issue in your area
- You have a walkway, patio or other deck that slopes towards the house
- You notice signs of flooding in the property
It’s common for homes that have at least one room below ground level to have a sump pump to drive water out of that room and away from the property. Most sump pumps are centrifugal and will detect water and use an impeller to force it out of the house. Sump pumps are generally hard-wearing since they may end up picking up dirt or debris from flood water and they need to be able to handle that. However, it’s still a good idea to have your sump pump inspected and serviced regularly, especially after any periods of extreme weather where it might have seen extensive use.
Take good care of your sump pump today and you will have peace of mind when the next rainy season comes along!
