Gerald Largo: The 500 Review Legend at Emergency Air

Gerald Largo just became the first technician at Emergency Air to earn 500 five-star Google reviews in a single year. Three years ago, he’d never worked a day in HVAC.

When Gerald stepped into the HVAC world, he was brand new to the trade, green, eager, and determined to serve. He called Emergency Air week after week asking if there were openings, not out of impatience, but out of certainty. He knew this was where he wanted to build a career. Today, he is not only one of the most requested technicians in Phoenix, he’s one of the most beloved.

Gerald’s rise has not been accidental. From day one, he dressed sharp, showed up early, listened more than he spoke, and treated every customer like a close friend or family member. He dove deeply into technical training and service training, and he credits much of his transformation to the mentorship of General Manager Rick Cubas. Gerald says Rick’s coaching literally changed his life.

That commitment has led to something extraordinary. Gerald has officially hit 500 five-star reviews in 2025, breaking Emergency Air’s review record for the second consecutive year.

When asked about his secret, Gerald keeps it simple. “I ask at the beginning: What can I do to earn a five-star review? Then I do what is right and take care of the client. The rest follows.”

He believes the most meaningful reviews are the heartfelt ones. The ones where a customer makes it clear that Gerald did not just fix their system. He made their day easier, safer, or lighter.

One of those customers is a man recovering from a stroke. Gerald checks on him regularly, replaces his filters, and handles the little things most people do not think about. “It takes care of the client,” he says, “but it also does good for my soul.”

In July, during Phoenix’s peak heat when customers are hot, stressed, and not always easy to impress, Gerald earned an incredible 92 five-star reviews in one month. That’s more than three five-star reviews every single day during the hottest, most demanding month of the year. This is a true testament to his work ethic and his heart for service.

Gerald’s American story began young. Born in the Philippines, he moved to the United States with his family when he was five. His first baseball game was a Diamondbacks World Series game in 2001, an unforgettable moment for a kid new to America. His parents once hoped he would pursue medicine, but Gerald followed his instincts. Today, they could not be prouder. As Gerald jokes, “My parents know they do not ever have to worry about HVAC again.”

Outside work, when he actually takes time off, Gerald loves to cook. Before HVAC, he was a chef, and he still loves making Filipino dishes for his girlfriend, Alejandra. Some people call him a workaholic, but Gerald says it does not feel like work when you love what you do.

When we asked Gerald what advice he would give to other techs who want to deliver five-star service, his answer was pure Gerald. “Do what is right. Take care of the client. Chase the good habits and not the money, and everything else comes together.”

At Emergency Air, we believe legendary service is earned one customer at a time. Gerald has proven that with 500 five-star reviews, and he is just getting started.
